The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday fixed the reference rate for the US dollar at 49.6480 rupees and the euro 65.0492 rupees.

The corresponding rates of dollar and euro for the previous day (January 25, 2012) were 50.0215 rupees and 65.1255 rupees respectively.

Based on the reference rate for the US dollar and middle rates of the cross-currency quotes, the exchange rates of British pound as against the rupee is 77.7984 as against 78.0535 on the previous day (January 25, 2012) and that of Japanese yen is 64.45 as against 64.19 the previous day.
