1. Direct tax collections rise 47 percent in April-July period of FY09
Brushing aside concerns of global economic slowdown and financial turmoil, India has witnessed a 46.95 percent growth in net direct tax collection, which has risen to Rs.71,648 crore in the first four months (April to July) of the current fiscal year (FY09), up from Rs.48,756 crore collected in the year-ago period.
