China, Taiwan on path of reconciliation
As Taiwan's recently inaugurated President, Ma Ying-jeou said he was "ready to talk" to China about closer ties, calling for a truce and mutual respect from the country in his inauguration speech, China has responded on a positive note that they will "seize a chance for reconciliation with Taiwan" and respect the desire of Taiwan's people to be their own masters.
