Larsen & Toubro bags Rs.1557 crore order from Andhra Power Co. for construction of steam turbine generators
India's top engineering and construction firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said, Monday, it has bagged Rs.1557 crore ($390 million) order from Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Ltd (APPDCL) for construction of steam turbine generators.
In a regulatory filing, the firm said it has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from APPDCL for the steam turbine generator package of 2x800 megawatts (MW) Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station at Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
L&T said it is the first Indian company to bag the order for supercritical 800 MW steam turbine generator island (including auxiliaries).
The order was tendered through the international competitive bidding route, the firm said.
The order has helped L&T makes its foray into the area of thermal power, employing supercritical technology, the filing said.
The order includes engineering, procurement, manufacture, supply, erection, commissioning and performance guarantee tests of two sets of 800 MW supercritical steam turbine generators and auxiliaries, it said.
The order would be executed by L&T through joint ventures with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Japan, the statement said.
