Double bonanza for gamers Dell launches XPS 730 H2C desktop and XPS M1730 notebook in India
The laptop also features a backlit keyboard with separate 10-key number pad while the high-definition widescreen display is compatible with Dell's LightFX application to manipulate the system's multi-colored perimeter lighting LEDs.
"Dell is committed to the creation of PCs that will take hard-core gamers to new frontiers," said Dell India's Mehta.
"The XPS M1730 engineering team worked with developers on leading titles such as such as The Orange Box from Valve's Half Life 2 and 2K Games' BioShock to help ensure this notebook can deliver the full-throttle power required for the most anticipated PC games," he said.
The XPS M1730 also includes a 4GB dual channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 802.11 a/b/g Wireless with WiFi Catcher, Bluetooth version 2.0+, 2 megapixel webcam with microphones, 8-in-1 card reader and dual headphones.
The XPS M1730 includes a 80WHr Lithium-Ion battery which allows the laptop to run for over 3 hours on battery. It has also been loaded with 200GB hard drive (at 7,200 RPM) and an optional 64GB solid state disc (SSD).
The standard internal optical drive is 8X DVD +/-RW Combo Drive with an option to upgrade to the more expensive Blu-ray Disc Drive.
Currently, XPS M1730, available in three color options - Crimson Red, Sapphire Blue and Smoke Grey - is available at the market for Rs.99,900 onwards (excluding taxes).
Unlike the XPS 730 H2C desktop, XPS M1730 offers the buyers to opt for the Windows Vista Downgrade Rights. With Microsoft set to stop support for Windows XP from June 30, the Downgrade Right is a welcome option for those who prefer Windows XP over Windows Vista operating system.
Under the Downgrade Rights, Dell will factory-install Windows XP Professional and hand over the DVDs of both the Windows XP as well as Windows Vista Business/Ultimate, thereby allowing the buyer to migrate to the Vista at his/her own convenience. Dell will also support both the operating systems throughout the limited warranty period.
