Punj Lloyd unit bags $280 million construction project in Singapore
India's leading engineering and construction company, Punj Lloyd announced its subsidiary Sembawang Engineers & Constructors (SEC) has bagged a contract valued at $280 million (Singapore $400 million) to build part of the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort in Singapore.
The project involves constructing the casino, theaters and retail arcade of Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd, Punj Lloyd said in a regulatory filing.
"Sembawang is well placed to handle this project as it is also constructing the new downtown line bayfront MRT station in Marina Bay, which will connect directly to the resort's MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) center," it said.
"[Sembawang will] build the substructure and superstructure of this mega resort with four upper levels and a four-storey basement," Atul Punj, chairman, Punj Lloyd Group, said.
Sembawang Engineers & Constructors is the largest engineering and construction company in South East Asia, focusing on civil engineering, process engineering and building businesses.
Work on the project will begin in February 2007 and is expected to be complete by April 2009.
