India is on a high security alert following a threat issued by terrorist outfit Al Qaeda, which said that attacking US and its allies including Tel Aviv, Moscow and Delhi was their "legitimate right."

In a video that surfaced in the US, Adam Yahiye Gadahn, also known as Azzam Al-Amriki, a wanted American member of Al-Qaeda, singled out US missions in oil-rich Gulf Arab states as potential targets.

Gadahn also accused India of supporting US in its mission of uprooting the terrorist outfit and said that India was committing the murder "killing more than 1,00,000 Muslims in Kashmir with US blessing."

"We shall continue to target you (US and her allies) at home and abroad, just as you target us at home and abroad, and these spy dens and military command and control centre from which you plotted your aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq, and which still provide vital moral, military, material, and logistical support to the crusade, shall continue to be (our) legitimate targets," he warned in the 1 hour 17 minute video, posted on LauraMansfield.com, an American website which monitors terrorist groups.

"Years of bitter trial and experience have revealed the danger they (referring to embassies) pose and shown that the only way to deal with them when they refuse to leave of their own accord is to expel them by force," Gadahn said.

Gadahn has accused US diplomatic missions for being the bases for anti-Muslim actions.

In a message to the US and its "crusader allies," Gadahn said, "The amount of respect we have for your international law is even less than the respect you hold for defined sharia, and our observance of it is comparable to your observance of sharia."

This is the first time India and other countries have been mentioned together by the outfit.

The Al Qaeda message also focused on the testimony of suicide bomber Abu Othman, who was shown sitting in a leafy shaded garden explaining how he had once fought in Afghanistan and his reasons for going on jihad, or holy war, against the United States.

"These embassies are used to spread moral degradation and encourage women to display themselves and wear make up," said Othman. "They also promote adultery and drinking."
