Huawei closing big deals with Indian telecom service providers
Chinese telecom equipment supplier Huawei Technologies, is making its presence felt in India, the world's fastest growing mobile market, by wooing telecom services providers in the country for millions of dollars worth of network outsourcing contracts.
Huawei is near to bagging about $400-600 million worth of deal from four cellular operators with which it is in advanced stages of negotiations.
According to sources close to the development, Huawei is close to finalizing the deal with state-owned telecom companies Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), besides Vodafone-Essar. The company is also in talks with Bharti Airtel for a similar contract.
Last week, Huawei inked a $200 million deal with Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications for network expansion.
Indian mobile operators, competing in the world's fastest-growing mobile market, are constantly upgrading networks and services even as they are looking to push into smaller towns and villages.
