Network Appliance Inc. opens first international development center in Bangalore
Bangalore - US-based leading network storage solutions and service provider, Network Appliance Inc., has opened its first international development centre, the only one outside of the US, in Bangalore.
The 1,80,000 sq. ft. facility, set up with an investment of Rs. 50 crore, can house 750 people, with an option to expand upto 1,200 people.
Briefing reporters, founder and executive vice-president, Dave Hitz, said, "We have budgeted to spend over $ 150 million on capital equipment, employees and other employees in India over the next two years. Our growth rate in India is the fastest for any of our operations worldwide."
Although the company started its sales operations in India in 2000, it set up its India Technology Operations in Bangalore only in 2003, to provide Engineering, R&D and services support.
"This centre will serve as strategic multi-functional unit with increased focus on new areas like worldwide corporate IT services, information engineering and product/partnering/engineering," said NetApp India Technology Operations President, Shekar Nair, adding that the new facility also houses one of the company's four global customer support centres and takes almost 70 percent of worldwide customer calls.
Founded in 1992, the $ 1.6 billion Network Appliance Inc. provides enterprise network storage and data management solutions. The company's network storage solutions and service offerings provide enterprises with storage, data center operations, business continuance, and remote data access.
Its NetCache Web delivery and security appliances support various applications, including proxy, Web caching, content filtering, virus scanning, Web application management, streaming media delivery, content distribution, and usage analysis applications. Network Appliance technology provides the ability to deploy all of these solutions on a single appliance.
The company sells appliance- and server-based software that manages storage administration and data availability. It also offers a set of software products that provide a functionality to solve various business problems.
In addition, Network Appliance provides enterprise-wide support and consulting solutions. The company markets and distributes its products in approximately 100 countries through a direct sales force, value-added resellers, system integrators, original equipment manufacturers, and distributors.
